Default Dutch Weekend LEM between UKLEM ?

    Hello all,

I'd like to make a feeler post.
Since a few years i am a regular visitor of the UKLEMs. Very nice atmosphere, good vibe, nice people.
We have had cool LEMs in the Netherlands as well organised by McCarrot and Stoney3K.
But they always last just 1 day.

As an organiser of Lanparties for 20 years (this December), i know what it takes to organise a multi-day event for large groups of people (>100 people).
A LEM is a little smaller and has different requirements, but is also in need of cabling (which i have) tables (supplied) and place to sleep (supplied).

I would like to organise a multiday (weekend) LEM in the Netherlands.
I might have found a cool location for this, centrally located in The Netherlands in the woods.
Has a recreational hall, 2 bedrooms with 24 beds, 2 kitchens, 5 showers and cool space around it.
So has got space for 50 people (don't expect that much, but at least there is so much beds!).

To rent this after 31st of March is around 1450 euros for a whole weekend.
Suppose we could get up to 20 people, this would mean around 70 euros per person.
Hopefully some English, Belgian and French friends could come over as well then it would become even cheaper.
Remember, you don't need hotel rooms, just bring a sleepingbag and your set.

    Conclusion:

Do you like this idea of a multiday LEM in the Netherlands ?
Would you be willing to pay 70 euros for 3 days of fun ?
When should we do this ? (remember UKLEM is 3-5 Feb 2012, i would like to be in between UKLEM and ShowLEM, but also want people from UK be able to come over so would end of march be too soon ???) Saves around 200 euros if we could do it before 31st of March.
Would March be ok for you ?

Remember this is a feelerpost, if no one reacts there won't be a LEM !
It would be cool if my UK buddies would team up/carpool and come over as well.
But people from Germany, Denmark etc are also welcome. The Location is central in Holland around 1hr from German border and 1 - 1,5hr from Belgium border.
Well let me know what you think ?
    I didn't fail !
I just found out 10,000 ways that didn't work.

    Well for starters:
Would end of March suit you (saves us 200 euro's on the rental of the place)
Would you be willing to pay 70 euro for 3 days (if 20 people show up)

I hope with this event to draw some UK, Belgian, France German and Danish members too.
Would like to make this event into a UK style LEM.
For the people that never been there:
Big hall for lasers, everybody can put their stuff up and play and show others.
Smaller room for tinkering (maybe one of the kitchens, remember there is 2...) where people can build/upgrade projectors with help of other people
Maybe some explaining / safety session ?

There's 2 big fryers in the kitchen, lots of stoves and stuff. So we can cook up stuff, or order something.

Well, hopefully more people like to join this. If people are positive about March i could try and take an option.
But since there is a fair amount of money involved i need to have some animo checked first.
    I didn't fail !

Me thinks: train accessability...and no 70 euro will be to much unless dinner breakfast everything is included.
Else id pay like 40 euro.
    These were my thoughts...

Offtopic i was also thinking of doing a lem close to me in vroomshoop. its next the swimming pool. at the ice skate track. it has a small venue with enough room for laser projector tinkering and outside around 200x300m space i think without trees ect in the way. enough to make a BIG ass lasershow. and the costs for the venue is really small.
You are unique! Just like everyone else...

The price is indeed a bit high, facility is 1045 euro excl. 150 euro cleaning fee and 25 surcharge for electricity.
I said 70 euro, because after 31st march it's 1220 euro, plus 150 plus 25. If we go before 31st of March it's already dropping to 61.
But it's a place equipped to receive 58 people, tables are there, recreational hall, lot's of room outside (football field, volleyball court etc)/

So when 20 people show up it's around 61 euro. Would 30 show up (which i doubt) the price already drops to 40.66 (I will pay you that 66 cents BorgqueenX...)
So let's just make this a nice holiday-laser-tinkering-weekend-thing-LEM and have lot's of people and the price drops.
Remember Ilpendam has already 21 attendents.

But i'd like to make this a small holiday idea for people abroad too, since there is sleeping facilities there too there's no need for hotels etc. so then 70 euro is reasonable i think. Furthermore i think Vroomshoop is one of the least accessible places of holland (now i have been to your place 2 weeks ago). It's far for everyone, except for you (no offense).
This place is relatively central so also people that have the same problem like yourself (No Car) for instance can also come there relatively easy.

And ofcourse if people come by plane we could maybe arrange some pickup service (i volunteer...)
    I didn't fail !

End of march would suit me.

Although the price doesn't bother me so much, I do feel there should be a price differential for commercial attendees.

If it is of any help, I could arrange a bunch of soldering stations, and labpowersupplies for the tinkerzone.

Please keep the vroom-lem to the vroomlem-thread

70 euro is acceptable again if everything is included...else i just think its to much for a lem. Sorry!

@Borgqueen: invite all your laser friends and we'll drop the price.
I can't make the price cheaper. We need 30 people to make a price around 40 euro.
I can tell you if i have a date that Rob Stanwax himself will be there ! How cool is that. Even before the date is set i have 1 attendee incl. myself and Michel it is already 3 ;-)

I will try to contact them friday (tomorrow i have to build up the show...) and see if i can get an option.

Thanks to all the people replied. To the ones that didn't so far, please let me know, your input is appreciated.
