Hey Kit -
That's the spirit, m8!..and I know you're gonna just *love* the front-side access convergence-controls.. that, just about more than anything, is what sold us on their systems... plus, yes, the brilliant-scheme for thermal-management they came up with, but - imho, the ability to 'spank' your convergence, w/O having to open anything, onsite / just-before a show, is the tipping-point vs the 'Kv-line'.. (...all due-respect...
...And @rçtĝ$ can't even enter that-'contest'...
..and yeah, the C-8 is a bit 'large', but the Red power, especially, is awesome... I'd bet, though, that you'd scarcely notice any difference between a 6 and an 8, anyway... perhaps only for the subtlest of fx, ie: rasters / shading, etc... I'm sure you and Wayne will tear it up, proper...![]()
RE: the '5 W limit'... give it time.. perhaps they'll 'relax' that for Pro-shows, in-time.. ie: NYS (New York State) over here in Gringolandia, *still* has their laser-show Regs stating a '5 watt limit'.. yeah, right, Later taco...So, perhaps, in time, they'll relax about that...
RE: VCSELs - you'll really see a difference in reduced Green 'trail-offs', ie: at the ends of letters / lines, etc - especially with 'tough' colors, like 'grey'... and, too, with rasters, etc - you'll be impressed..Good overview article about the whys / wherefores / advantages... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertica...emitting_laser
Anyhoo, cheers to you and Wayne, and... let's see some beam-shots!!!

fer ya, meantime:
..this was over a 730' throw (!) and the only reason it 'looks blurry' is cause I had to zoom-in to fill the frame, due to the distance, and only brought a crappy little Sony digi-cam....plus, it was just a tad bit windy up on the roof, there...
