    Default Laser outdoor

    Hi Guys,

We want produce a Animated Laser Outdoor like this one: http://www.brainstorm9.com.br/wp-con...tontwitter.jpg

But we have a doubt: Project in White or Black Screen ?

White screen reflect more, but contrast will be lower than black screen.

In clubs we always looking for a dark wall to project, to see better the animations, generally the dark wall has few ligths...but the doubt is which color will provide better results to RGB laser show (white), I mean, which color screen will be see from higher distance.

    Thanks
    Marcel

I say white screen and adjust power output as needed . Too bright , just turn it down .

I know white screen reflect more the laser beam, but also reflect all lights, so the doubt is if black screen will be more visible because "only" laser will scape and appears in a black region. This is related with vision principles.

Have you tried grey? A number of us use grey scrim netting and it gives good reflection, while staying quite invisible in the dark.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Is this even a serious request or an attempt to get people to follow the guy on twitter.

All I see is a twitter promotional sign when I click the link, not a laser in sight.

Thank you very much norty 303.
Seems that I will have to do some tests.
I will post the results here.

Still puzzled about the relevance of the picture:

As not a laser in sight. However, you seem genuine given your reply above.

I believe Norty has your answer. All I would add is that if it's your aim to reproduce the above sign in laser you will probably struggle because scanning and large amounts of text don't go together well - it often results in scanning speeds being too low which in turn results in flicker.

White-Light, you are right. Big texts dont show well. But could be a sequence of short messages (like twitter...the pic is only to give a notion of projection size). The other question is: it will appears in day light ? or what is the best collor screen in day light ?

    Thanks

Unless you have an *extremely* high-power system (..like, north of 80 Watts, and all Green / Yellow / White..) you're not going to see much, even on a white-billboard... Perhaps, if it's 'overcast', you'll see a little, but.. certainly not going to have a 'high-impact', as-in the nighttime..

ie: 40-ish Watts of Green on white Billboard, nighttime:

    http://www.7mainstreet.com/imaging/b...931068-247.jpg ..Approx 6W (total..) of G / B, shot from about 700' - on a white surface - with a fair-amount of ambient-light, but... a far-cry from 'daylight'...

..To make the 'point' about daylight, here's this mean mama-scratcher of a laser:

...now, try *scanning* that into text / gfx?? ...Yeah, later, taco...

..So, the recipe for (any-chance of) success, is a) LOTS of power, b) Brighter colors, where possible, c) White (or as close-to, as-possible..) surface, d) Good n' dark, e) Low-ish ambient light... but, Daytime?? Unless you've got an (actual..) 200+W of laser-power... I'd suggest a giant LED panel

    Hope this helps...
    cheers..

To reply to your question scrolling text or other moving text effects are your friend here so the amount of text on display at any one time is kept to a minimum but the whole message is still displayed just not all at the same time. However, if you're planning on daylight, take Jon's advice above.
