I'm really glad to read this. It makes me feel a little bit better. I wasn't about to ask you or anyone else if it was OK for me to come. Gary sent me a PM about coming to SELEM and then he made his post in this thread. I appreciate the ice-breaker.

I like to party, have fun and laugh my ass off. I'd love to see my laser friends from all over all in one place. It's been some of the best times of my life.

I'd like to have something fun to look forward to. I've been very depressed lately. About 2 weeks ago, my nephew was murdered.

You can read all the newspaper stories and see the TV spots about it by looking for Akron Ohio McDonald's shooting John Lehman.

I will never be able to make any sense of it. I really miss that kid.

All software has a learning curve usually proportional to its capabilities and unique features. Pointing with a mouse is in no way easier than tapping a key.

AFAIK BUFFO has always taken himself out of the door prize pool ...I guess, because he draws the names ( done with computer) so I feel Adam should leave his name in the drawing- i don't think anyone would think the drawing was 'fixed' in any way.

    1. James I wasn't being sarcastic. You were the first one to re-introduce me to the laser hobby. Your basement LEM was the first LEM I ever went to as well.
    2. I agree 100% that we should do something for Adam. Not sure exactly what that is since he would not accept it anyway.

There was a brief appearance back around late November - early December. I saw he had some activity right around New Years too but, I haven't checked for awhile. I think he's still trying to dig out from all the snow of the past winter.

Sorely missed... someone needs to shoot a photon in his direction and re-ignite him.

Edit: Between you, 300evil, allthatwhichis, platinum, soforene, and a few other notables missing.... it just hasn't been quite the same.

    Seminars....

Where are we at so far and what do people want to see/hear about?

Aside from watching shows, the comraderie and the break from work, SELEM (for me) is a huge learning experience. There is always that dilemma of wanting to sit in on one thing and potentially miss another.

As best I can tell, so far we have Swami with an LSX demonstration, buffo on scanner tuning and cleaning up images/tails etc. Hopefully coupled with that is a in depth look at DZ's color correction board. I'm sure Bill will be good for two hours of Pangolin something or another. The other thing I'd really like to see (and it perhaps fits with the DZ board) is some sort of good talk on color pallette adjustment. I've used the wizard in Showtime a little and "think" maybe I see an improvement but, I really don't know what I should be looking for. It sounds like it's a very time consuming process based on comments from White Light, Swami and others but, it would be nice to have someone volunteer up a projector and starting from scratch, say "Here is what I look for, here's how you adjust it, and here are the results of making the adjustment. Here is how you save and load it so, any time this projector is hooked up, the software knows what to do."
I'd like to see a real world side by side example of: "Here is the output uncorrected... here is the output color trained." It sounds like it's a powerful tool that can improve the output of any projector and, costs time, not money if you have the knowledge.

I'd also like to learn what the benchmark or reference is. With the ILDA test pattern it's (at least initially) the circle in the box. With color correction, who is to say what's right? Or, say what the maximum amount of improvement is...

Heck with seminars we eating anything.

I wanna see mr planters ln2.

Also the art of the second head would be something. All I remember is DZ and Mike Dunn bashing a keyboard and second head effects being added to some shows I had it was like magic.
