Anyone wanna pool in and help pay for a flight over for me? I'll .. uh, bring some Australian .. stuff? Food?

One day I'll make it to one of these meets

Although, if someone does do a presentation on colour correction, would someone be so kind as to film it and maybe upload it to YouTube? I'm sure it would benefit many, including myself

Andrew, I haven't glanced at the ticket recently but, if I recall correctly, Swami is coming into Charlotte Thursday night I think around 10 and flies out of Charlotte Sunday around 6. Maybe you can coordinate your arrival/departure times accordingly. I haven't begun coordinating airport/SELEM transportation yet. While I can probably play shuttle driver if necessary, it's two hours round trip in the opposite direction for me and, there are always a number of people flying in and out and that come from the south that maybe something can be arranged.

Might be in a middle of moving, so I will probably not be able to make it this year

Not soon enough. I'm sure SOME people are anxious to get projects done and are running out of time but, that's one of the "benefits" of being blissfully ignorant about a lot of the building process. LOL!

I just wanna get the heck out of dodge for a few days!

Ha! I hear ya brother. I'm suddenly up to my eye balls with stuff I want to get done for SELEM. And, out of the blue, yesterday I get an email from a guy that bought one of the AVI scan heads from me 10 years ago asking some questions about it. I quickly replied that I'd like to buy it back, that would be just awesome if lets me, we'll see. Along with all that, I guess I need to work out some kind of show schedule for the auditorium but I really need to know what kind of other events are going on and plan shows around them.

Like you, I can't wait! This is going to be the best SELEM yet.

However, those are two pretty big "ifs". Keep your fingers crossed. Oh, and if anyone has an extra floor... :-)

Edit: If I am able to attend, I will be happy to make some of my dark chocolate espresso cookies for everyone to try, and I could even make a special batch as a door prize... I know it isn't as illustrious as some of the other door prizes, but swamidog will tell you: they are delicious! They are especially good a few minutes after they come out of the oven. This is, of course, if Hakzaw will let me in the kitchen! :-)
Hmmmmmmmmm-- IIRC the problem in the past was trying to get people to come in the kitchen and offer to help..finding eaters was VERY EASY--

As far as floor space I may have one for you but sorry- you would need to chip in the same as the others (4 not counting you) but that will bring the daily cost to ~$20 ..I have slept on the floor almost every night so far at SELEM- I prefer an AIR BED to the rollaways that the HIE offers and have a few extras I can bring for others -

suite has two beds ,- two TVs a desk, and a bar w/stools , & a couch--and the full kitchen (walmart is next door)

This year aside from the kitchen in our suit and the one in the auditorium building we may have access to the big on behind the cafeteria--

GREAT Andrew ;-) met you in 2010- looking fwd to seeing you again-
One guy who I know will fly- and book way in advance will be Greg (Displaser)
AFAIK he will arrive Thur and depart either Sun after its over or early MOnday morning- he may want to do a rentalcar carpool--so get with Greg on details.

More than one airport is used so be sure to book the same one.

I will not ask you(again) if you need any AixiZ blank modules--lol (inside joke ask 'Lava' when you see him about that)

IMO overcrowding has never been a problem in the past LEMs- we had more ladies attend last year (IIRC) than ever- plenty of room- bring em on!!
Remember to order $ pay early if your guests want a SELEM polo shirt VERY few 'extras' get made,,hope to see some LOGO ideas from many--

When is your flight arriving? Also, I assume you're flying into Charlotte Douglass International Airport (CLT), right?

I will be passing that airport on Thursday, Aug 15th at around 10:30 AM... It's less than an hour from there to the venue, and I should have room in the Jeep for one passenger, so if that works with your schedule, let me know and I can pick you up.

I will keep that in mind about the kitchen... :-) However, if I can get the registration together at all, and gas money, that will be about all I can manage, and a small miracle in itself. I'm a pretty broke guy right now. :-/ Only time will tell what I will be able to afford.

Also, I wouldn't be getting there until probably mid-day on Friday...
