    Hey guys...

Sorry I didn't post earlier, but I was unconscious! Got home safe and sound Monday afternoon, and just collapsed. Decided to pay an extra day on the trailer rental so I wouldn't have to unload. Then called work and told them I would not be coming in today. I fell asleep at 5 PM yesterday and slept until 7 AM this morning! Still a bit tired, but I can function now. (Don't know how I made it this far!)

SELEM was awesome this year! I have so many people to thank... DZ - for all his help in the auditorium, Chris - for all the work signing people in and leading the many "guest" tours, Steve Roberts and DSLI-Jon - for all the work done in the Ion room (including a valiant effort to resurrect my Laserscope!), Brad - for the incredible gear he brought this year that made Club SELEM (and the public show) into something truly epic, Julie and Andrew from X-laser - for their tireless assistance in tearing down all the gear (I was overjoyed that you stayed around; we really benefited from your help!), Rick and Tiffany - for bringing the "road case from hell" that contained a 3-projector laser show system that added an extra punch to Club SELEM, RGB-gas - for supplying all the power, water, and support infrastructure for both the auditorium and the public show (not to mention a lot of extra hands to help with setup and tear down), and Swami, dkumpula, and countfunkula for the awesome conversations at the Trotthouse over breakfast.

I know I'm forgetting people here, but I can perhaps be forgiven since I'm coming off a 5-day stretch of only getting 3-4 hrs of sleep each night! But even with all the sleep deprivation (not to mention a sore back!), I would do it all over again starting tomorrow if I could. I think this year's event was one of the best ever. We are really getting things together now.

EDIT: As noted below, I forgot to thank Bill Whitcher, who has tirelessly provided the black-out sheets for "Club-SELEM" every year we've had the Cafeteria. This is a *HUGE* help.

I am really grateful that so many people were able to come. I haven't done an official count yet, but I think we had close to 70 waivers signed. So not quite a record-breaker, but really close. For sure we had more guests this year. I'm happy that the event has progressed to the point where whole families are becoming interested!

I only wish I had more time to talk to people. As it was, things moved way, way to fast! Also, the change-over from SELEM to the public show was done at break-neck speed. I'll have to re-think that for next year. Without the help of everyone who participated, that public show would not have been nearly as nice. So thanks again to all those folks who helped make that happen.

Hmmm... If I lay back down now, I could catch another 3 or 4 hours of sleep before I have to unload the trailer... I think I might just do that!

Take care my friends! And thanks once again for making this event really special.

    Adam

PS: Newlin: I'm going to find a way to get you back for the "Grandpa" kit one day! But I have to admit that the hemorrhoid doughnut was actually pretty comfortable to sit on...

    Adam,
The Grandpa Kit was actually the brain child of Rick, Tiffany & myself. I picked out the hemorrhoid doughnut, Rick & Tiffany the other "Gifts". We were careful to pick things that you couldn't use against us, like a cane. Lol.
Feel free to take it out on Newlin though.

Thanks again to buffo, DZ, Bradfo69, and the many volunteers that made all things SELEM a total success.. Thanks also to docjohn, X-Laser, Bradfo69, Newlin for the cookies, and anyone else that I might have missed that provided food for the event.. Thanks to all of our awesome vendors (Pangolin, AixiZ, Hakzaw1, X-Laser, and anyone I may have missed) that provided door prizes.. Congrats to Adam and Jeff for pulling off a fantastic outdoor show for the town of Newton... They loved it!!! Big thanks to Anthony Garcia and Sal for letting me crash in their hotel rooms...

I just have to thank everyone for all their kind words! I've been trying my hardest these past few months to get the experience and skills necessary to "go pro" and I sure as hell got plenty of thumbs up and motivation! Thank you PL and SELEM for being so open and welcoming with me. I can't wait for this CaribiLEM that I have heard so much about ;D

Whoot! Thanks to everyone for another great SELEM! It was great meeting Patrick Murphy and Greg Makhov, two names I've seen many times over the years while reading up on my hobby! Thanks to the sponsors, props to Bill from Pangolin! Thanks DSLI Jon and OSR for an introduction on actually maintaining a water cooled yag, eventually I'll get around to converting my unit. Great seeing my laser friends again and great meeting some new people!

The events I attend like SELEM, computer security cons and MAGFest always leave me with tons of ideas. This year was no exception as I thought of a ton of ideas on the ride home back to Northern Virginia. Maybe between now and the next SELEM I'll actually get some of them on copper clad circuit board and in the timeline window -- unlike last year. It's just a great inspiration and a great time.

I've never been to SELEM on a Thursday or stayed over to Monday, I'll have to say it was a bit more exhausting than normal -- but worth it! Much of it might of been due to me staying up way later than normal :-)

This year was a bit of a shift, as everyone has moved to off the shelf projectors and there are way fewer home builds. On the flip side there was more large frame ion lasers than I recall at past SELEMs! Like some sort of wild cross fader.

I have some HD footage of the Sunday night show, and I have a bunch of footage from the auditorium. Where I messed up is I forgot to record footage in club SELEM with the crazy array of Plutos looking like a mini version of those huge overseas euro EDM shows! Only without the hardcore music that I'm not much a fan of ;-)

    I agree with all ---

Any who got door prizes--PLEASE do not forget to say thanks by a PERSONAL EMAIL to those who donated.

saying thanks only at the forums will NOT cut it..that is NOT a Personal thank-you.

This has not always been done in the past and helps to keep those who send donations 'in the loop.'

Even if it was a low cost item saying thanks is a must-do thing.

AixiZ extends their apology for not being able to send as much as other years..

their sales have been down 20% for a third year--

AND I find it disappointing when some order from China (No-Like-techhood-laserlands) just to save very little and the need to wait on slow free shipping. AND get poor customer support..

Also IMO, it helps us a lot if when we buy from Chuck we do this NOT using GreedBay OR Scamazon
AND we add to the notes- the fact that we are forum members-(and to those who mention me==THANKS)

You can place AixiZ orders with CCard over the phone too- 1 713 240-4929-best to call between 9AM and 11 AM Texas time== 'Central'

you wont always get an live person at the toll-free number but can leave a message.
1-888-242 9491. For AixiZ tech support PM or email me- I can try help you --

LOTS of new items added & many are for DYI projector builders=

AixiZ will continue to support our LEMs (including TEXLEMS) and we hope to grow TEXLEMs to a second in attendance ONLY to SELEM--

I'm a step ahead of you because I already sent a thank you and received a response from Chuck. I've sent thanks to everyone I have received something from going back to my very first SELEM.
