    Default Ether Dream Firmware

Did you guys update the firmware before you tried using your Ether Dream? I just received mine in the mail and am wondering if I should just do the update before trying it, or see if it works and then do an update if there are issues ?

    Thanks for your advice,

    -Jason

What is your current firmware level?

Download the sitter app from the etherdream website. That will tell you firmware level and network info. Remember, the etherdream is designed to sit on a network that has a dhcp server. If you don't have one, it will timeout and self assign a non internet routable ip. Your computer needs to be in the same subnet.

Thank you, Swami. I've downloaded all the drivers and tools, but have not yet powered it up yet. Hmmm thanks for the heads up on dhcp, I would prefer static IPs since my laptop is dedicated for laser only.. Might have to set up a dhcp server on it...

Thanks again! If I can't get through it I'll reach out for help on the chat ...

You can do static ip. Let the ed timeout on its dhcp request. Run sitter to get its ip, then set your computer to a static ip in the same subnet.

I see the etherdream.dll in the root directory of LSX.
I renamed this dll and downloaded and dropped etherdream.dll from the website...still no unassigned dacs in the Assignment box.
Any other ideas on where to drop the dll?
I gotta go now but will be anxiously awaiting more input.
    Thanks!

until you have the network setup properly, i wouldn't even worry about the LSX side of things. solve the basic problems first.

You should always use the drivers (.dll files) that come with LSX! They are modified by drlava so that they implement things like hardware protection and who knows what kind of black magic. For example no protected show files (and all example shows are protected!) play if you don't use the LSX driver. It's a beginner's error which cost me a lot of time when I got LSX

As soon as I return home (after midnight central time) I'll put the etherdream.dll back as original!
I don't like messing with files I don't know exactly what they do...that's why I renamed the file (added a 0) and copied the etherdream.dll from the ether website into the root directorty. I will fix that back asap.

I dream (heehee...get it?) of the time we do something..I go to the DAC Assignment Screen...and see Etherdream in the unassigned block!.. and I can drag and drop to Timeline 1 click and hit ok and start projecting!

I spent a lot of time (Windows 8) making sure LSX was an exceptioned file to the firewall...
I see in hardware that a device is not being recognized (Perhaps the DAC)...but haven't figured out why or what to do to get it recognized.

Sometimes...when I am trying a show...a message comes up that one or more of my projectors is not enabled...do I wish to enable it now...I say YES and cross my fingers!! But no show.

I DO have proper lights going into and out of the DAC....even a light next to the ilda connector on my laser...
When I disconnect the ilda cable from the laser...I get beams...
So...it appears the signal is getting to the laser...but no beams out! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

If anyone has a LK-PD2...I get a flashing 038 on the panel when I plug in the ilda cable.
Any idea if this is ok? Supposed to be Automatic. Works with my FB3 and Quickshow.
I'll hook up my FB3 when I get home and see if different numbers...

I will pull out my reke500rgb and hook up the cable to That laser and see if I can get a different outcome....So Close!!!

Like Swamidog said, you should chase the network side of things and make sure that the device can be found using the Etherdream sniffer app on the Etherdream website. The other avenues you are chasing are a waste of your time. When you resolve your network/firewall issue, you will see the ED in the DAC assignment dialog and you can progress quickly from there.

The blinking number on the back of your LK-PD2 are telling you that you have a DMX address programmed to that number to control the lumia wheel, but you don't have a DMX signal in alongside your ILDA signal. It doesn't hurt anything as the lumia wheel defaults to an open position in this situation. Read your LK-pd2 manual for more details on that topic.
