My vote is for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5" or 8.4" The screen is OLED based and looks like pure magic. If your wanting a Phone out of the device also and hence smaller-ish size wait for Samsung Note 4.

I'm leaning toward the Galaxy Tab S 10.5" as mentioned above. Since the DZ router can be controller via tablet with OSC, I decided to start looking at them a bit more. Amazon prime price is $497 I'm still a little afraid to pull the trigger though. I'm not certain how comfortable I am with what's the best choice.

I won a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 in the McDonalds Monopoly this year and to be perfectly frank, its crap. A lot of that is down to the OS I think, but the device is also pretty slow.
A lot of my friends swear by Android, and rave about how open it is, but I was looking like I was going to have to root the OS in order to use the SD card properly, so it wasn't much different to having to Jailbreak an iPhone/iPad.
If I was spending nearly $500 on a tablet I'd be spending it on an iPad, and I'm really not an Apple fanboi, but I do have an iPhone, and I tend to keep them for 4 years at a time.

Also, TouchOSC is available for iOS, and works great -
I'm still running my iPad 2, and can run MIDI Designer (for Beyond MIDI to PangoScript)and TouchOSC (for Beyond DZ Advanced Router control) at the same time.
Very cool...
The Apple iOS solution works great for me, since I can use one desktop app to keep my iPad and phones synchronized.
(There's probably a similar solution for Android devices; just not familiar...).
Just make sure whatever OS device you choose already has the apps available you'll need to do everything you want to do.
I'll have my iPad at SELEM if you want to check it out...

Sweet.....
Sigh.... you're all telling me what I don't want to hear but, I really need to listen before blowing more money. I'll resist the temptation to get the Samsung before SELEM.![]()
So many good reviews, incredible screen, multi processors, SD and USB.... big. But, I'll wait.

I picked up an iPad mini (1st generation mini) on Craigslist specifically for testing the OSC stuff and love it. I picked it up for $140 and it's still under warranty until the end of the year. I've not tried to run TouchOSC on a Galaxy but I understand it'll work on that device as well. I initially tried running the TouchOSC from my iPhone but found it to be way too small of a screen. The iPad mini was a perfect size for the template I created.
Ok... I was going to ask you what you were using so, that's helpful.![]()

I've got TouchOSC on the Tab 7.0
I was thinking it would make a good remote for my lighting desk software too, and if it got nicked on a job I'd probably be happy...
Turns out the wifi antenna is crap and it probably wouldn't ever be in range of my ad-hoc network. Sitting in the lounge, less than 3 metres from the router I get full bars on ipad and iphone, whilst the tab languishes at 1 or so.
Did I say it was crap already...?
