backdrop and stuff

ok let's say you were a guy who bought a laser not thinking about where you were gonna point it.

you had an 8' square wall... but it's got stuff on it. and you're cheap. and this is just for fun.

so is there a go to backdrop for laser noobs like me?

also, anybody know of some good laser defending goggles?

You can just pick up an inexpensive gray or black flame retardant drape from Georgia Expo and use it to cover up the Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars posters (one assumes since you were intentionally vague ) on the wall whenever you want to laze. You could also use grey or black felt held with Velcro tape. Felt looks great, but is a fire hazard.

Okay yeah my specs were pretty vague ha ha. and I do like me SOME of JT.

I went ahead and just got a king sized flat sheet for an 8' square backdrop.
It'll hang off a well supported 8 foot 2x2.
Looks like I shoulda went for black instead of offwhite - dang.

My x-laser mobile beat mirage (are these things named by Microsoft??)
is under a watt so I don't think I gotta worry bout fires.

I don't have my own "laser safety guy" to help me with protection glasses specs.
I'm definitely not gonna let anyone's eyes get in the way of that laser of course.
No mirrors around or reflective plastic, etc.

But is there a SIMPLE explanation of some goggles/glasses I can get that'll let
me look straight at the thing?
Diodes: 200mW 638nm direct diode, 100mW 520nm direct diode, 100mW 445nm direct diode
Nominal divergence ~1.6mRad

All the glasses seem to block only certain colors.

To be frank the divergence on the mirage is less than that, that's a spec sheet error. You should have no issues with setting anything on fire IF the beam is scanning. If you do a sustained single point that's not moving even 400mW can be a fire hazard

I don't mess around with any single point stuff.
But if there's a software bug, I'll make sure to switch the dang thing off asap.

Hey.. coral isn't a bad color. Lol (Unless you're trying to make it with laser.)
