    Default 635 Vs. 650

i am a BIG proponent of 635 red over 650 red. A lot of people swear by 650 over 635 becasue its a "better red." i know these are just pictures, and the camera doesnt tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth...but, can *YOU* tell which is which???

i would SO much rather have MORE visible red (635) than a more "proper" red (650). in reality, do you think ANYONE would sit there and say, "hey, does that red look like an "orangey red" to you??"

i think when doing a show, brightness and clarity are MUCH MORE important than exact color representation! these are just my opinions....

see if you can tell which red is which...

The pictures make them both look very similar. Is this the case when looking at them "for real", or is there an appreciable difference?

I remember a topic similar to this being beat up about 1.5 to 2 years ago. I guess it's just all personal preference. In my opinion though, all the folks that pay to see your laser show, wont notice a difference, nor will they care.

I must admit, I am slightly biased. I grew up with a 2011 Krypton and I am therefore rather fond of 647nm. This is why I think the current crop of 645nm lasers is the way to go.

i just happen to have these here for testing/burn in and wanted to do this experiment for both myself and for comparison here.

of course its personal preference. but wanted a visual representation of what *MY* thinking was.

    FYI-

in the beam pics (51, 52 and 53) the laser on the left (as you look into the beams) is a ~500mW 650. beam on the right is a ~300mW 635.

But wat about beam quality, most affordable 635nm got terrible beamspecs, like 2,5mrad or higher.

yep, here lies the larger issue... most 635nm lasers have horrible beam specs... im really hoping that the new 645nm lasers prove to be a better option

yes, the 642nm diodes are the way to go, they only have 1mrad divrigence.

Main problem is, the 150mW CW diode cost still more than 130 euro's a piece.

The good thing is bridge wil make lasers from these diodes this year!
