If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Today i've been busy tinkering with the heatsink on the DT25 Amp board. Call me paranoid, but it was getting a bit too warm with that other block of aluminium attached. So I snagged a couple of copper heatsinks from a dead dual xeon server. Each processor had a TDP of 150W, so these copper heatsinks should cool the board pretty well!
After looking up the chips on the amp board, the max heat output from the middle 20W audio amp chip is 62.5W, and the two regulators are 15W max a piece. So by my maths, that 92.5W - plenty within the 150W heatsink design

They were drilled + tapped, and then cleaned with IPA, followed by a healthy lashing of thermal compound.

I've also milled a 6mm plate (not shown in photos) which screws to the bottom of the whole unit for top-down attaching.

Now I just need that base plate...

    Thumbs up

You Sir are F^&*in crazy... You could throw both those amp on one of those and have thermal "space" to spare. NICE fabrication!

Will you need to be wearing a coat when operating that Laser?

If you and Jem with his hazer get together in the same room then that'll cure all this global warming malarkey.
