After several requests, I decided it was time to put together a Live Pro training course. This is still a work in progress, but is now coming close to completion. So I thought I would put the feelers out and see how much interest there is.
The training will come on a DVD Rom that runs in a web browser on your PC, and yes it will be copy protected
It will cover every control and pretty much every function in Live Pro, from understanding the colour coding right through creating your own cues to building multi-projector, multi-zoned shows. The training takes the form of animated screen captures showing you step by step how to use the software, with easy to follow examples. There are 25 Modules, each one containing anything up to 10 lessons which clearly show you how to get the best from this software.
The modules are as follows:
1. Introduction to the Interface
2. The Cue Grid (Grid, cue previiews, cue elements, captions, grid views and populating cues)
3. The Live Control Tab (Cue recorder, size position & rotations, scan rate & colour, beam & TTL chasers, favourite snapshots, beat & audio and channel controls)
4. The Track Monitor (Controlling elements, directing cues, one cue mode, snapshots, live performace mode, drag & drop mode, track-cue snapshots, track projection zones and multi-projector shows)
5. Transitions
6. Speed Controls (controlling element speeds, locking faders, resetting faders, beat settings)
7. Browser Mode
8. The Cue Properties Tab (Image panel, renaming cues, beams panel & creating beam cues, effects panel, commands panel & creating command cues and the others panel)
9. Toolbar Buttons
10. Image Properties
11. Projection Zones (Scanner settings, geometric correction, preview window settings, attenuation maps, and scanning parameters)
12. Beams Settings (Creating beams, setting up the beam chaser)
13. Creating Effects (Simple effects, compound effects, effect only cues, other effect parameters and effect preview parameters)
14. Creating Key Effects (Simple key effects, compund key effects and other key effect parameters)
15. Creating Color Cycles (Solid colours, RGB oscillators, Intra Image colour cycles, intra image gradient cycles, entire image colour cycles, entire image gradient cycles, blanking effects, modulation effects and frequency tools)
16. Putting it all together (Building a cue with an Effect, Key Effect and Color Cycle)
17. Creating Text (Key Words, Animated Words, Live Text and Scrolling Text)
18. Creating Abstracts
19. Joystick Settings
20. Configuration Settings
21. Transition Settings
22. Audio and Beats
23. DMX Input
24. MIDI Settings
25. Hotkey Settings
So far I have spent over 300 hours putting this together using professional software, and for those of you who don't know me, I am a professional trainer, so this is going to be of a high standard.
When completed the training will be set out in such a way that you can follow it end to end, or if you have one of those "I forgot how to do this" moments, you can simply navigate to a specific lesson and refresh your memory.
There will of course be a price tag and it will be discounted for PL members. But look at it this way, Pangolin suggest at least 40 hours of fiddling to start getting your head round Live Pro. With this training you will learn everything in something like 4 - 5 hours. I spent about a year learning and working with this software and in writing the training I found a whole bunch of functions and tricks I never knew about.
I will put a sample on my website in the next few days, so you can see for yourselves what it's all about, so keep an eye on this thread for updates.
Hopefully this will be of interest to you guys and I'm sure it will prove to be a valuable asset to all users of the software. This is just the tool you need to build your own workspaces and it gives you the understanding to make the most of them. In no time at all every show you perform will be your very own unique work of art.
Watch this space
