Massive billion dollar companies cannot stop pirating and governments cannot stop hacking.

The ONLY thing which has prevented Laser show software and DAC boards from being hacked or copied so far is the demand/interest is too low; but who knows, if enough free or cheap hardware is given away; maybe then that action will create the interest and bite the hand of the producer.

I know you have a grudge against Pangolin, but the kick here is that even IF it does happen to use a cracked version of Quickshow, you'd never get any updates for it. I think one huge reason Pangolin has such a huge fan/customer base is the support - of which you'd get none with cracked software. Not to mention the showportal, which is pretty much the show bible for Quickshow and BEYOND, as none are directly included with the software (Or at least, that I know of). You'd be stuck with stock frames on a (relatively) old version of Quickshow.

Seeing as they mention 1000 in stock, I think Pangolin would be quite aware of such a large order, so I'm putting my bets on fake hardware. Heck, the labeling could just be a rip off, it could be their iShow software with Quickshow written on the CD case and FB3 engraved on the box, don't put it past the Chinese

one : "I know you have a grudge against Pangolin" WRONG you do not know me, you do not know if I have any grudge or not.

Two : If I wanted to slate the company you are supporting, I could and would have easily used its name.

I think the point that Andy was trying to make was that the RIAA and MPAA, with "unlimited funds", an army of lawyers, and political influence (both domestic and over-seas), cannot stop pirating. Pangolin, Medialase and others, which are small companies, by comparision, have been very successful at prosecuting pirates and stopping them in their tracks. All because the laser industry is still a minority, growing fast with cheap chinese junk, but still a minority none-the-less.

It is kind of funny how unsuccessful the mega-corps and monopolies have been with how much money they have probably thrown into stopping piracy. I don't support piracy at all, but I also don't support monopolies either. I am glad the RIAA is losing their grasp on the market. iTunes, GooglePlay and Amazon have changed the name of the game for small artists that are having trouble getting signed by an RIAA controlled label. Big artists, too.

That is exactly my point and for anyone who thinks protection is easy; just wait until the software/hardware crackers become interested to crack it. Now I suspect nobody is bothered enough to do it but I am also sure it will happen eventually.

Look at Martin Light Jockey for example. It is copied and I understand it is even better than the original.

Well not sure if it complies with BEYOND's T&C's, but if you have BEYOND then surely this would be cheaper than buying another FB3?
