i have a couple sets of ct6800 compatible amps, and one real set. very interested in the galvo offerings from pangolin.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
I sure hope Steve gets a pair his word speaks a lot, swami and Karl also coud put them through the works. How about you make an offer that PL can get them if we order 100 units as a group buy, I like buying your lasorbs why not a scan set. I would prefer a digital driver developed in the future but that is a tangent.
Go big or go home.... Paul I stole your sig there.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.
EDIT: I just read the above post.
Yes, if there were a group buy offered, I would be in for 2~3 sets if the price was right.
If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room.
I was just linked to this thread and read through it looking for a solution. I do not have the time or the skills to take one manufacturer's drivers and marry them to these scanners, but I seriously want to try these in one of my projectors. I was not at SELEM to see any of the demos, but it sounds like those that were are pretty convinced these are a winner.
It is a little confusing to me, but as I read it both the Saturn and the Compact -506 motors are compatible with current drivers and both will operate best if some modifications to these drivers are made. The Saturn motors have a greater potential, but will require a more sophisticated DSP board to exploit it.
Now, I picked up the gauntlet to stock DPSS lasers here in the States and MIGHT break even financially. Who is willing to spend some time to incorporate these in a system? I'm not looking for a bargain, I'm looking for an exciting alternative. Based on previous forecasts, I would expect complete systems from Pangolin, even though projected in 2014, to take longer to be available.

Hi Planters,
Compact 506 is our "cheap scanner". It will work with normal drivers as is, but will work better (delivering essentially Cambridge performance) with some minor modifications to amps. Steve Roberts sent me a T2 to modify, then I'll sent him a pair and he will report back.
The '506 has instantly garnered high demand because of it's high performance and low price. Because of that, we've started working on a dedicated amp just for these. We're targeting something the size of a credit card for dual-axis, plus having some new innovations (we can't just do normal stuff...)

Hey Bill -
Long time no type..Questions:
- What are the largest (practical) mirrors / apertures each of the galvo-families can handle? (ie: Saturn's 'biggest mirror handling': _____ ? / C-506's biggest: _____? etc..)
- What power-level handling is offered? Up to 50-60W? How are the 'curves' for the mirrs you guys use, in the 445-range? (many 'high-power broadband dielectrics' seem to 'slack-off' around 445; perhaps many coaters are still thinking of Argon's 457 still being the low-end, dunno...)
- Will the shafts of either galvo allow for 'clam-shell / screw-on' (CT 6220-style..) mirr-mounters? What about a 'custom' mir mount? (ie: shaft-mounted 'V-block' for use with a vertical retro-reflector for moar-efficient old-skool mech-blanking..)
- Say I want to mechanically-blank a 10-12mm (aperture) beam, of 50-60W, all lines, RGB, including 445.. Which galvo / amp would you recommend - Saturns / DSP or C-506's? (Graphics are not-important.. Aerials / Fans / Sines / Beams only, so 'speed' is uncrucial...) Yes we have a 'sacrificial T2' we could send-in..![]()
..Ultimately, tho, would need about 15-16 galvos (9 'v-block' mech blankers, and 6 XY pairs..) Not worried about price - More interested in *very-stable* repeatability / low-drift (because RGB convergence is post-retro stages..) and longevity. And deftly paddling big-ass 60W RGB beams around. :P
Thanks for any thoughts..
cheers..
j
PS - Sorry 'bout yer thread, Gary.. ;D

Bill,
I second Jon's questions. In addition to the maximum mirror sizes someone could possibly attach to each of these motors what will be the largest mirrors that you will supply for each?
Also, like Jon I am interested in a quantity of these, but not hundreds. If the development of the driver will take some time and the 506 comes first then will you have some ready by P. West? If so I'll be happy to pick them up at your booth. If not, can you recommend a "best" stock driver that could be drop shipped to Pangolin for tweaking? If a modified existing board will be the best solution for a while then would you recommend coupling it with a Saturn rather than a 506 for the best performance as long as neither is a standard solution. I'm not really concerned with cost.

Hey Bill, any chance you can make the T2 modification details available when you've completed the mod? I'll likely pickup a couple of the 506's and I'm looking forward to seeing them run on the T2.
I'm also very interested in this.. I currently have 4 TT2 amps.. 2 w/6800's & 2 w/g120d scanners...
Thanks, Mark
