is the schedule for events and seminars determined, or will it be mostly ad hoc?

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
Only an electron wiggler like you would resonate at 30cm.
Hey Swami and all fellow SELEM attendees,
Regarding the seminars, I volunteered yesterday to coordinate alongside DZ to maintain a seminar / tutorial schedule that will hopefully have minimal conflicts with your favorite shows and other activities. Some of the seminars that have been requested to date include:
Plus a couple more currently being discussed
- Scanner Tuning Tutorial
- DZ Color Board Adjustments
- Lumia In-Depth
- What's New at Pangolin
- Running Live Shows (Best Practices)
- LSX Tutorial, Tips, and Assorted Tricks
If you have interest in other topics that you'd like to see covered, please let Adam and I know (in addition anyone you were thinking of volunteering) and we'll see what we can do.
I'll publish a rough schedule (subject to change, 'cause its SELEM!) as soon as we get the commitments and coordinate show schedules. My guess is that in order to maximize attendance, the presentations will primarily take place Friday and Saturday during the afternoon.

"Help, help, I'm being repressed!"
In conjunction with the DZ Color Board Adjustments, what I specifically asked about last year as well as this year is setting color palates. I've followed along with Pangolin tutorial videos and have played with it a little in LD2000 and Quickshow but still simply don't know if what I am doing is right or, quite frankly what exactly it is I'm trying to do. Swami has referenced spending a long time tweaking them in LSX. Buffo has ones saved that he can just dial up for the respective projector. I'd just like to learn to maximize the quality of output from my projectors and feel confident in what I'm doing.

Damn! Is there any way to Like a thread?
Outstanding! Got you added to the list. (Still need your shirt size though.)
Thanks for offering to help, Dave!
One thing: it looks like Greg (Displaser) will not be able to make it to SELEM.So he will not be available for the laser lumia round-table discussion.
Also, it's been confirmed that Dan Goldsmith from X-laser will not be able to attend this year. He has a conflict with the business, and he just can't get away. He will be missed!
Adam Raugh will be there, and he is willing to participate in a low-key question and answer session on projector certification if people are interested. This is not a reprisal of the laser safety and projector certification presentation we've had in past years. This is more of a round-table discussion format where everyone can contribute comments and experiences.
With regard to "running live shows", and especially "setting up for live shows" - anyone who is interested in these topics should plan to be at the venue on WEDNESDAY, August 13th to assist with the load-in and setup. Putting together the "Club-SELEM" layout, in particular, would be very valuable experience for anyone interested in performing live shows. As for running the shows, several people (including myself) will be available to do demonstrations and question/answer sessions if there is interest. (Best to do these in the early afternoons, before things get really crazy in Club-SELEM later in the evenings!)
Also, while we have DESPERATELY tried to get more organized each year, there is a fairly chaotic element to the event that will never go away. With that in mind, if you happen to think of something you'd like to see done, like "Hey, how do you adjust near field and far field alignment on a projector", or "How do you use the APC-40 with Beyond to perform a live show", just grab someone who is free and ask them if they can show you. Often times I get roped into these little demonstrations, and they are a lot of fun and contribute to the overall magic of SELEM. So if you have a question, don't be afraid to ask!
Finally, I'd like to remind everyone that we will have a Z5 analog console set up in the Auditorium, and Mark (Imagelight) and David (DZ) will both be on-hand to show people how to use it.
I will be happy to do this, and it's a short presentation so it can be repeated several times if there is interest. It doesn't take long at all.
Just keep posting in it?Actually, you can "rate" a thread, but almost no one ever does. The quality ones always seem to rise to the top though, by virtue of the fact that people keep posting in them.
