This is not what we had originally planned on rolling out as BEYOND. But this does have some BEYOND technologies. Certain user interface controls are from BEYOND, and certain scanner management aspects are from BEYOND.

You might recall that, around last October, we consciously decided to stop development on BEYOND and start development on what has become QuickShow (back then we didn't even have a name for it). We felt it was important to shore-up what we were offering for introductory clients and also laser enthusiasts. Many people from PL have purchased our FB3 system and are using it along with LAStudio, which is cool but a bit difficult to learn. We believe QuickShow will be very easy to learn, but, at the same time, also very capable.

To me, the neat thing about QuickShow is that it's all here in one single program. Live control, timeline, frame editor, bitmap tracing, text generation, etc. and it's all integrated in a pretty seamless way. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I think everyone here at PL will be too.

QuickShow development is nearing its end. There are some loose ends we need to tidy up, but nothing too major. And once QuickShow development is complete, we will turn our attention back to BEYOND development, which was already around 75% complete.

QuickShow was made for people who really don't have much (or any) experience using lasers. No training will be needed for QuickShow and, aside from some video tutorials, no help file will be included. On the other hand, BEYOND is made for true laser professionals. It has a lot more bells and whistles and definitely some form of training will be needed to take full advantage of it (much like LD2000).

Will QuickShow be able to handle more than one FB3 controller?

Yes, but everything is calculated by the processor of your PC so this wil be the limiting factor.

With QM.net the processing is done in the QM so 30 QM in a network will not be a problem.

That's only true for playing pre-programmed shows..

QM2000/.NET/QM2000 + LivePro = all processing in PC (and live streamed to all QM's).

Are you sure the frames are not stored in the QM when using livepro?

With livepro I'm pretty sure only the current frame is stored in the QM's ram, and the QM card only deals with the geometric correction transforms and maybe the colour palette magic. - At most Livepro only generates 4 streams ( one for each track) no matter how many QM cards are attached and addressed with track-to-zone settings. What jeroen said is also what I've heard. When using LivePRO it doesn't matter if you are using FB's or QM's

Not exactly. LivePro generates a stream of frames realtime and sends it to the QM(s). This frame is stored in (and constantly updated in) one frame slot in the QM (the last one I remember?). The QM takes care of the palette, the projection zones and other output-related settings.

Snip from the LivePro help file:

LivePRO does most of the image generation and processing inside the PC and then writes information to each QM2000
