Typically this discussion boils down to the age old bowling-for-columbine-type riot, with all it's associated milked out standpoints.
Group #1 thinks they have the right to own dangerous toys, because dangerous toys are fun. They can deal with these toys, they are educated, they are responsible. Immediately an other group is pointed out, that has none of the above mentioned properties. Those are the rotten apples that spoil it for the rest of us. And if dangerous toys are to be removed, it should be from them.
Group #2 thinks there is no practical use of dangerous toys in the first place.
This group thinks that a society that is full of retards ánd dangerous toys, is to be avoided at all cost. period!
My sympathies are with group #2. It's immoral to actively decrease the number of retards in a society. Evolution will take care of that later.
But the number of dangerous toys can a should be regulated to an absolute minimum.
It's immediately obvious to anyone that a knife or a gun is a dangerous toy.
It's not immediately that obvious that a laserpointer is a dangerous toy.
If a retard sees audience scanning, their immediate conclusion is:
"if they do it safely, how dangerous could my laserpointer be?"
