    Somehow it does sound a little too simplistic to work anyway. I'd be interested in learning about 'other' laser types (besides DPSS) from the physics POV, and what it takes to make them work. DPSS is really nice for show use because of its compact form factor, but from a lab perspective it's little fun. Gas or dye heads with loads of plumbing, huge amounts of three-phase current and page-long startup checklists are MUCH more challenging.

    well you will need one to build a fs laser, its not like you will build a fs laser then go find an autocorrelator standing by for pictures!
