Frank answered the question regarding the mobos but, in reference to the mirror balls, yes, several balls and motors were taken last year in hopes to create what I can only assume is your "vision" but, logistics and time dictated that they stay in the van. This year we are a little more prepared with a plan and so, will give it an attempt. At least 4 balls and motors but, most likely closer to 6. Let it rain!

I know you meant this as a joke, Jon, and I'm not calling you out, but you've raised a good point that needs to be restated regarding weapons in general and firearms in particular.

ABSOLUTELY NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND, ESPECIALLY FIREARMS, WILL BE PERMITTED AT SELEM.
THIS INCLUDES ALL INDOOR SPACES AS WELL AS THE OUTDOOR AREAS SURROUNDING THE AUDITORIUM AND THE SCHOOL.

I don't care if you have your concealed and carry permit.
I don't care if you are a law enforcement officer.
I don't care if you teach gun safety classes.

Leave your weapons at home. If you want to keep a weapon in your car, DO NOT PARK ON THE AUDITORIUM BLOCK. PERIOD!

Believe it or not, we had an incident with someone brandishing a firearm a few years back. I was not aware of it at the time. If it happens this year, I'm not screwing around. Newton City Police will be called to the scene and they will handle it. I'm getting too old for childish shit like this. We are all adults, so we should be able to act like adults.

Note: Please understand that I'm not some anti-gun crusader. I firmly support the 2nd amendment. But SELEM is not the time or place to exercise those rights! 'Nuff said.

is *anyone* bringing a Mobo ML-10, or at least an 8? Or, any-sort of DMX-beam-table sys?
Brad has one, Frank has one, and Jeff has one (ML-10's). In addition, I think we will have a couple ML-8's (see Ethan's post below), and I'll have my 3 watt Q-beam beam rail. (10 turrets, so similar to an ML-10)

    And.. Mirror-balls, w/ Motors? I have a.. 'vision'..
Yes, "Laser Rain" will *FINALLY* happen this year in "Club-SELEM". You have my word on it. (Might need to make a quick trip to Home Depot to get some lamp-cord to wire up the motors, but otherwise we have all the parts in place. Still worried about exposure though. May need to empty the room for a few minutes while we take some power measurements just to be doubly-safe, but the effect should be worth it!)

Anyone know if Herr Spec is coming?
Haven't heard anything from him, but sure would be awesome to see him there.

Any sort of 'slush fund' in-werx to haul his Panda-Mech-butt up there? It'd be gr8 to see him there..
Anyone interested in this, contact me privately, either via PM or by phone at (843) 324-0735 this weekend and we'll see what we can work out. Time is short though - I leave in 3 days!

God-damnit Ethan! How many times do I have to tell you? Bring everything you own! (This is why I'm renting a u-haul trailer this year...

Seriously though - please bring them. Tell you what: Bring your mobo's and in exchange I'll sweet-talk Steve and Jon and get you in on the Laserscope safety lecture. How's that for an offer? (And in fairness to them, they only know you from your posts on-line. They don't know you in person like I do.) So don't take their reactions in the laserscope thread personally. They're just trying to protect the general public from the galactic stupidity that seems to be rampant these days. I know you better, and can vouch for your safety awareness.

I have an assortment of turrets as well.
Nice.... Got any dual-turrets? How about grating effects? Would be nice to mix things up in Club-SELEM. (And if you have anything to SELL, well, then we definitely need to talk!)

Just thought of something: Are you going to stay for the outdoor show Sunday night? If so, let's chat ASAP... (You'll be there for setup on Wednesday, yes?)

You know you want to come, James! Maybe you can share a room with someone last minute? Either way though, I know folks would love to see your battery powered lumia box. And that 5-wavelength projector is always a hit! You can pay at the door if you want. I might even have an extra shirt for you. (I ordered some extras when I sent the order in just in case a few "old timers" decided to show up!)

Come on dude! Make the trip. (What else are you going to do that weekend, right?)

THAT'S WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR!! You "can't" be entirely absent... wouldn't be SELEM.

I think it's about 95% certain at this point! He's just got to clear it with his boss. The leave is the sticking point.

In other news, there *WILL* be special pricing offered to all SELEM attendees on selected Pagnolin products. And no, not just one or two items, but pretty much everything they sell! So come to SELEM and save some cash on cool stuff from Pangolin!

(Details will only be posted at SELEM near the registration/sign-in desk.)

I would like to listen in on that if possible

Understand principle, but that's about all at this point.

Neil, come see me early in the event. I'm bringing several projectors to sell, and one of them has what I would call an ideal alignment rig. It would be the perfect unit to use to explain near and far field alignment. We can use it and run through the basics in about 5 minutes!

for bonus points, we should set up a double bounce configuration.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    Hey Chris;

That's the secret to the projector I was referring to. It has a double-bounce arrangement!
