    Thanks Lex.

Don't know about the PSU as it came with the unit and has no markings on it.
Red diodes are 16X DVD burners and are around the 100mW each mark.
Will do the next time I have it all up and running. Awaiting replacement red diodes to turn up as one died the other day

These are some photo's of the new improved cooling system allowing me to run an extra 5A of tube current before hitting the tube over temp switching.
I got the blower (grain dryer) from a car boot sale, £5.00, and made up a 'T' pipe for it by cutting and welding it together. The pipe is 115mm bore flexible ducting. I am actually thinking about removing the 2x Papst fans now as I think they may be restricting the air flow now???
The ducting plugs onto the stainless spigots attached to the back of the Papst fans.

I also had all my solid state stuff up and running on my stand the other day - I know it's got nowt to do with the 68 but it looked so cool

Built and fitted the beam catcher tonight to try and take some of that 'scan head cyan glow' away
I haven't tried it yet with the laser running but can't see any apparent problems with it.

Am still awaiting the new red diode to arrive from the States then everything will be removed from the scan head and it will all be painted matt black internally.

Nice work Jim - simple but effective. I know I have said this before but I am looking forward to seeing this kit at the meet.

    Me too

I'm glad you're putting the conservatory to good use as well, who wants to sit in the sun anyway ;-)

    Lol

The daughter nicked my old 'play' room so had the conservatory and wood shed built for moi.
    Yeah, what sun

I hate the heat anyway hence the heat reflecting blinds and 2x 18" high velocity fans in there

Sorry about my darn home phone going flat YET again Rob Second time now I've been talking to Rob on the phone and the poxy things gone flat!

Anyway, was going to get some video of the 68 running last night and playing the Mamba show 'Hey St Peter' (nice and colourful) onto a white dry wipe board but whatever I did I could not get my vid cam to focus in! Dark room with lasers, it just don't like!

Will try again tonight with some smoke

I just LOVE the orange it creates

I have got to devise some sort of filter system for the air cooling inlet, tidy things up a bit, sort out the beam 'dump' and it's about done. I have decided that I am not black painting the internals of the head until after the LEM when I have a little more time to cope with any mishaps I may create.

    Cool

After having uncounted hours of laser video ruined, I've learned that projecting onto a dark screen is best. White screens reflect too much light back to the camera and it can't deal with the high contrast. (This is what happened to the Bill Benner Scanner Tuning Tutorial Video... The shots of Bill were fine, but the images of the test pattern were *totally* useless.)

Try projecting onto a black sheet draped over your whiteboard and see if that helps. A scrim works really well too. (I use slate-grey no-see-um netting and it looks great!)

Got some pictures took last night

Got a slight problem with the projected image wavering a little but I think it's a combination of the fan vibration from the 68 and maybe grounding issues but over all I am very happy

Wow Jim that looks so nice.
I agree the orange is gorgeous! Well done.
